"Add to Google Calendar"

  • Some part of GMUCal would need to ask for Google account credentials and feed them into a Google API call
  • Concern #1: Possibility that GMU has some restrictions on asking for and using account credentials that we'd have to respect
  • Concern #2 (closed): User perceptions of security and privacy - GMUCal is currently built around the model of: "we only consume public data (i.e., don't need your GMU username / password to assemble your class data, just a list of CRNs), and pretty much everything happens on your own device" - not sure how much students will be concerned about a student app asking for their credentials: maybe it's an issue, maybe not - just something to keep in mind
  • No decision, just considerations
